So I tried to train and practice, but failed. I mean I wanted to making it at event all week. Work had me tied up for a couple days. I woke up Sunday Morning sluggish, but told my himself, I am running a 5k today, and I am going to win. Did you participate in the Automattic’s Worldwide WP 5k 2013?
I had an amazing time running in the Automattic Worldwide WP 5K event. I really felt like I was running for a purpose and could not give up. I decided to do a video (vlog) of my experience as well to be on my YouTube channel tomorrow. I started my day off with water a b-12 energy pill to give me a boost from my tiring week, then I was up wide awake to hop in the shower and get ready. I had a blue theme and socks (seen in the photos below), also I had my iPod with a custom playlist for the run.
There wasn’t many people outside running in the area I was. There was just about a few people. I was taking photos and videos in front of who was passing by. After a while of stretching and plotting my motions I was off on my run with my first song playing in my earphones. I did my run in Co-Op City of Bronx, New York City.
My lap times are as recorded:
1st Lap (mile) – 7:14
2nd Lap (mile) – :7:51
3rd Lap (mile + extra) – 8:43
In total estimated: 24:03 (as seen in the pictures below)
My pace was a bit slow, but I think I did pretty good. This is now the time to beat as I get into better fitness. It’s was such fun run the first mile and I had a good feeling then once I hit 1.5 mile milestone I felt the pressure and the sweating. I managed to get to the 2 mile smoothly and then I felt my feet feeling dead, so I slowed my pace a bit and kept my breathing on point.
Once finished I was so excited and proud. I captured my final seconds on film and a photo of proof with my phone (see below). Being healthy is a lifestyle and continuing effort, and I appreciate Automattic to share with us and helping others be aware of just the little things and steps we can do to be healthier and live happier.
Three tips for a better run from my experience today are: (1) your form and shoes matters a lot, so focus and invest in good shoes, (2) breathing properly, (3) think a nice pace to run and you will make it through.

I went with a hip-hop themed playlist of music. I like uptempo music when I go running and working out. I like to be super hyped and have lyrics I know and can recite during breaths or reps.
